   something tells me that isn’t a design fail, judging by the complete lack of anyone else there, i’m willing to bet they snuck into the park when it wasn’t open and the gates are at the end of the slide to prevent such dumb behaviour

   Glen is right, the gate was there to avoid stupid people from taking advantage of the part when closed.. im sure she got hurt and tried to sue the part too lol

   The question is not why someone didn’t open the gate.
   The question is also not why someone would put a gate at the bottom of a slide.
   The question IS, however, why anyone would be foolish enough to put themselves at the mercy of gravity, and directly into the path of a large metal grate.
