Yes, “Big Bone Lick” is a funny name. So let’s dissect the humor. The term “Big Bone” refers to the large bones left behind by the mammoth, mastodon, ground sloth and bison that once roamed through mineral springs and swamps that were common here during the Pleistocene age. “Lick” refers “salt lick” which is a place where animals go to lick naturally occurring salt deposits. So “Big Bone Lick” is essentially a diner and cemetery for ancient animals. What’s so funny about that?

I don’t think its a funny or a fail at all…I’ve lived about 20 minutes from the park my whole life…i never thought it was funny

I’ve visited the park, hiked the little trail. Tried to hide my laughter from my children. Told them a corny child-friendly joke when they kept asking what’s so funny. And what do I get for all my sheltering? We went again a couple years later, and the younger child yells out “OH MY GOD, IT SAYS BIG BONE LICK!!! THIS PLACE IS FOR PERVERTS!!!”

Good question “???”. why is it called a boner? this is mildly funny not epic tho. what is more funnier than that is a girl i knew lived by a place in Indiana called French Lick, at first she she was kinda talking dirty and then she said she is “gonna go by french lick and get wasted and then the night would get more interesting.” i thought she had fancy name for a BJ or a special one, just like french kiss is not like a regular kiss.
