Ya know…not that every black person has to go through the struggles of direct racism or anything, but considering that LABELING ONE THAT IS BLACK AS A MONKEY is one of the more common forms of racism when it comes to the name calling factor, I’d have to agree that this is a very big fail.
The fail is thinking it’s racist just because the doll is black; if the doll were of any other ethnicity would it matter? No. “Lil monkey” is a common expression for children, and just because the doll is black really doesn’t mean this should be considered racist.
Monkey is one of those names you just dont apply to a black person. Not even black people use this word for anyone even toward their own kids. yeah it might be a common name to calling lil kids but tell me if you ever heard a black kid or mixed kid for that matter being called that. in other races it could piss off someone personally or it could just be blown off but when it comes to history and the insults that blacks had to endure its one of them names you jus dont use. Common sense would dictate that… unless you are that stupid common sense doesnt penetrate your noggin that deep.
Exactly. I can’t speak for other countries on the matter, but that’s definately how it’s viewed in the general American populous. Nothing wrong at all with calling your child a “lil monkey” because I have kids and yes, kids as a whole do in fact act like monkies be they black, white or otherwhise. It’s just how it is, but it’s also unfortunately the same way on the negative side. You just don’t associate black people in with the word “monkey” as it’s just generally offensive. =T

Funny that “mongrel” is a derogatory term for half negro, half white people. It can be used for any mixes, but usually is used for obvious mixes rather than caucasians or asians. Also, someone needs to look up the word racism. Especially if their “handle” has the word “Educated” in it. Racism deals with race and has nothing to do with two specific races, but all of them. Whites are usually pinned with it because they are the most evolved and/or civilized. It is hard to be offended or feel you are being looked down upon when you don’t feel yourself to be lesser to start with. Whites go to see Chris Rock make fun of whites while blacks are ultra-sensitive to anything negative. Honestly, if they didn’t feel they have similarities to monkeys, this wouldn’t be an issue in the first place. I find this absolutely disturbing. Anyone making fun of African Americans like this does not realize the contribution of African Americans. African Americans made the blue print for DC, discovered peanuts, penicilin, created the red light, and more. America would be nothing without us. I find this very offensive.

This is wrong in so many ways! Little monkey?? Who ever created this damn toy knew exactly what they were doing! Every thing in markting has a subliminal message first off if a black doll is made she’s usually “lightskinned” for other racist reasons but. When they decide to make a Darkskinned doll they decide to call her little monkey?? BS!
So…a company put together this black doll and a monkey in the same package to sell to children 3 and older. Someone then got the brilliant idea of posting a picture of it on Epicfail due to the contents of the package. Then one by one people posted their comments. This posting started out obviously stating how racist the packaging was. Through reading the comments what ended up happening is people attacking one another over how someone else felt or thought. So the whole purpose of posting the picture ended up getting lost within the name calling and finger pointing. That’s why nothing ever gets solved…because people loose their focus and just want to point fingers. The product is what our society is and always will be. There will always be something that can and will be viewed as racist. It is up to us as individuals to be secure with who and what we are and to raise our children up to be the same way.
If someone got the two mixed up I think it would be saft to say ,skip becoming a parent! Kids might act like monkeys sometimes but they are way more expensive.
