Bet your genes suck though, plenty of poor people are born with better genes, but can never reach the income level to afford health care simply because their parents are poor. Europe has proven that socialism works, and even though everybody can get health care, we spend in average half as much on it as the average American.
Absolute FAIL for all of you in this Carsten thread. Health insurance isnt the issue. Up until the 70s people didn’t have “Health Insurance”. Those were perks for executives. And guess what? People could afford to see the doctor. Then along come the Democrats and convince everyone that letting Kaiser Permanante run willy nilly through the medical field was a good thing. (Thank Nixon for that) Years pass and the American people now think it’s a right while ignoring the fact that the Pharmaceutical business along with a corrupt FDA and bullshit agriculture bills which criminalize growing organic anything and you have what you have today. A system that only the rich can afford while the rest beg Government to save them from themselves. I suggest you get a few more years under your hats before commenting on things you know nothing about. Either that or get out there and make your millions while you still know everything.(the problem is more vast than my quick explanation, but i dont expect you will understand anything until you see it for yourself. If you are smart enough to find out the truth instead of spouting what the TV and the corrupt education system tells you to think.)
In the UK the NHS, although with a few flaws, does an overall excellent job and doesn’t cost us anything (except ofc from the normal taxes. I’m shocked that America is only just getting this system back, thanks to Obama. To me it seem’s criminal to have to pay for basic health care

Actually, he was jobless…and this is a fail because he will most likely get a light sentence, because he told his story to the media. Seems like an attention whore to me… he should have just robbed the bank, went to jail and got the medical attention he wanted.

This guy probably has cancer and he knows it. Thing is, people hate to come to terms with the idea that there aint shit you can do with the type of cancer that he probably has and as long as the doctors think they might can get some money then they’ll treat him. Which is how it should not be.
If they can’t make any money then they’ll tell him the truth and probably give him some morphine samples and that’s that. Which is how it should be.

Case #1: I have a friend that makes good money. However, he is married with two kids. If one of those kids farts and his wife don’t like the smell of it, then she takes them to Urgent Care or the Emergency Room. She or he can’t treat anything. So they can’t save any of their money for shit like that.
Case#2: Same guy called me awhile back and said that he had to go, himself, to the ER. I asked why. He said that he had the worst case of jock itch that he had ever had.

@TexTheMerciless: Excuse me. I drove for about 4 yrs during a time when I could make some money and save it. I touched freight from the back to the front of the trailer. I hauled boxes of cabinets. Heavy fuckers, too. I drove and unloaded, sometimes at up to 14 stops in one day. I logged in on the comm system in the morning at one stop (where I woke up), unloaded there and went to the other stops. I worked or drove to 14 hrs or till I got to a stop where they were closed. I took a whore bath and went to sleep. then repeated this the next day. Sometimes I was doing this for 4 weeks (usually 2 weeks) at a time with no days off. I’d finish one load and then turn around and go pick up another load and repeat the process. Now that is a company driver and that’s how it works across the board when working for a company. So, for the most part, there’s alot more work than driving from point A to B. And definitely more work than what people that have never drove knows.
Now what you’re talking about is an Owner/Operator. He/she owns his/her truck and if he/she feels that all that work is unnecessary to pay the bills, then he/she can operate like you are describing. But to have that good feeling, he/she had damned well better be out of debt and have extra money available for maintenance and repairs or he/she better get their ass back in that trailer and be unloading or life will bite he/she in the ass.
Now, granted, I got in it while there was some money to be made driving for a company, and I got out when all the money that I made was being used up for staying out on the road. Right now what you have is young fucks that are doing the same thing, but for little pay.
The owner/operators, now, are primarily the dumbasses that bought used trucks sold and financed by the companies or sold by owner operators (that said to hell with this shit). Those trucks were beat to hell before they reached their current owners and those current owners are struggling to pay payments, maintenance and repair bills.
Myself, I don’t want one if you gave it to me. I’d sell it. I wouldn’t even try to hire anyone to drive it for me. There is way too much beaurocracy, taxes, insurance, workmans comp and all that bullshit. I know there has been close to a thousand bankruptcies every year for the past 4 yrs.
But this idea that truck drivers are out there “joy riding” is just absolute bullshit.
The UK just had to close 150 medical centers and now doctors there prescribe drinking water to ensure nurses don’t ignore elderly patients (so they don’t die of thirst in bed). Socialized medicine is a fail everywhere it is practiced.

People in jail or prison get the best healthcare of all. All medical, dental, psych, all free no co-pays no nothing. Prescriptions, covered. They get 3 healthy meals a day, t.v. access to fitness equipment, laundry services, snacks. While people who have never in their life ever had a traffic ticket have to decide whether to cut back on vegetables or pay for their prescription. I had to put off a surgery that I needed really bad because I couldn’t afford to miss time from work. Finally had to get it done because I couldn’t handle the pain anymore. I went back to work the day after my surgery. Because if I don’t work we don’t have groceries. Maybe I should consider welfare or jail seems like they get the better end of things.

No, I haven’t ever spent time in prison. Is that something to be ashamed of? I do know this prison isn’t like what you see in the movies. I have never been there because in my life I chose what is called “breaking the cycle” However I am THE ONLY person in my entire family who has never served time in a jail or prison. So while I haven’t been there I do feel I know enough about the subject to stand by what I said above.

The point I’m trying to make is that stupid shit, naturally, drives up the price of health care. I’m no Alan Greenspan, but I think there is a bit of supply and demand working here. And it’s been my observation that if you go to the doctor with good insurance, then they’ll find something wrong with you. Treat you. Make a buttload of money off of you. They know what they can get away with. The insurance companies have their faults, also.

Socialized medicine may work in other countries, but it will never work here. The politicians are too corrupt and there’s a large part of the population(like the douche in the story) that will exploit every loophole to bleed it dry.

Old people want their cake and eat it too. They’ve had it relatively good up to this point, but will have to change. This “I have everything paid for so I’ll mortgage it all, buy a RV, ride the roads fucking up the traffic, and then bitch because it all don’t go my way” shit will have to be ignored for a while. And the old fucks want everything for free! Because they’re old! Florida is ruled by old people, with the rest being kids, grandkids, doctors and lawyers all of which are out to fuck the old folks out of the money they have. And the old fucks, or their constituency are the only ones that vote. That’s part of why nothing is ever fixed. It’s simply not designed for the working person.
Things like what this guy has done will, atleast, bring about the arguments to make change. Which leads to my main point about the problem with Health Care: The majority of the shit involved with health care is not needed. What is needed is people that can go to the drugstore or grocery store and doctor themselves for atleast minor things. I can’t cure myself if I have pancreatic cancer, but neither can a fucking doctor. Give me some morphine patches and I’m going home till I can’t take care of myself anymore, and then I’ll die. But these doctors will fill you with all kinda bullshit so as to charge extortionary prices.
But, then again, everybody thinks there’s a chance they will live forever. You just gotta have the right kind of insurance.

I’ve learned by going out and living for a few years in other countries that you will learn alot more about what goes on in the US than living in it. People think that there is no censorship in the US, but they are very mistaken.
