Why tips are compulsory in US?? In Greece a tip means that you tip for the good service if you want,but it’s ok if you don’t
well most people think they should be tipped a 5 or more for their “excellent service” for those 5 mins that they are around you.
That’s why I leave only a dollar for shitty service.
in greece you pay more to cover the lack of a tip.
in Greece you borrow $10 & give a $5 & spend the other $5 on bubblegum & candy.

In the US, minimum wage for waiters and waitresses is (generally, it varies by state) much lower than the standard minimum wage, with the expectation that the difference will be made up in tips or gratuities.
Tips are rarely compulsory (often large groups have a compulsory gratuity, but otherwise it’s voluntary), but they are definitely expected, and waiters/waitresses are very touchy about them, for good reason, as they can make up the majority of their pay.
