I see this daily at Costco. You’re forced to do it because you are assigned which tank to go to by a person there. So yeah I’ve done it. Why take the time to turn around when that works?
For those of you too young to know, this was common place years ago. The pumps used to have longer hoses which made it easier. It is now mostly frowned upon by the owners of gas stations, but as far as I know, not against any law.
How is this a fail? I do that shit all the time and I know perfectly well which side the fuel door is on. It’s the lazy asses that wait in line because they don’t want to go into the open slot on the “wrong side” that get me. Why do you think they make the hoses that long in the first place?
I assume the creator of this image doesn’t drive. The entire point of them being high up is so you can use it with filler caps at either side of the car. The same way in that the lower ones are extendable.
This is not a fail! I work at said ‘Costco’ and the hose don’t damage the cars! This is actually a smart consumer; as she is not waiting in line like a …….!
I don’t see how this is a fail. I do this all the time as most pumps do reach the other side. Why wait thirty minutes for a free pump on the tank side when you can do this?
This isn’t a fail. Certain gas stations have hoses that are meant to reach both sides of your car so you aren’t limited on what pump you can use. For example, Safeway gas stations have signs that say something like “Long hoses reach both sides”. Whether she did it on purpose or accident I don’t know. But that’s not what the fail is supposed to be. It’s supposed to be about laziness because instead of taking her car to another pump after realizing she was on the wrong side, she stayed and pulled the hose to the opposite side of her car. Well, like I said, this is actually common, therefore, it isn’t lazy. Not if the hose is meant to be used on both sides.
There is a Sam’s gas station that only allows you to drive one way. I HAVE to do that sometimes when the only pump available is on the other side of the refill. Otherwise, definite FAIL!
The person who took the picture obviously thought it was a remarkable thing. If you know you can fill from the wrong side at the pump and it saves you time not having to reverse and being knocked out of line, great. But I think for some drivers, reversing alongside/near something or turning a car around in ‘less than empty’ parking lot is too much to ask.
The hoses where I work don’t reach like that nor should they, – do you really want fuel flowing through a taut, suspended line that could come loose in the wind or if someone knocks something? Unless you’ve got it nailed, turn your shit around to the proper side, fuckface.
I see a woman, that does not know on what side is positioned her gas tank door. More of a driver fail if you ask me.
