There is actually a reason for this mod. It does look awful, but when you put the exhaust up like that, it means you can drive your car through some very deep water without the engine flooding. If your exhaust plugs or is underwater, your car will stall out. They obviously did this for mudding, though the choice of car is questionable.
That sounds good, in theory, but the reality of it is the air intake is much lower than the exhaust (if those really are exhaust pipes and not just ornamental). Therefore, if they drove through water that was over the top of the hood they’re still swamped.
If they drove through water that was over the hood they deserve to be “swamped”….It’s mudding. Not “submarining”.
Exactly, just because their pipes are placed so high doesn’t mean they are going through water that deep. Again, it looks like shit but it most likely gets the job done.

If that were the case, Wolfgang, the air intake would be of equal or greater concern. This is just stupid. Steampunk aspect gives it some credibility, but useless otherwise. If that tiny car needs exhaust stacks of that size, there’s a bigger issue at hand.

Again, the air intake in a chevy is near the top of the hood. Mudding is not going to go into water that deep, especially not with this car since the tires obviously can’t handle it. But mudding would explain the dirt all over the car and the exhaust. I never said it was an ideal mudding car, in fact I mentioned that it was a retarded choice. But that is what they are trying to do with it.
