I hate the kids’ statistical perspective of everything. It means absolutely nothing and it’s a dead end to logic.They’ve completely lost touch of what music is actually about and what it means. Personally, if I were a musician, I’d be happy with the money, but I’d figure that I’d be doing something wrong if I had 80 million views on Youtube.
Good observation, IMO. Statistics are like these economic equations that these “experts” try to “prove” their points with. All you wind up with are little trivialities that may be nice to know, but always beg the question, “How did you arrive at that?” If that can be answered, then you’ll see that there are too many variables left out for those equations to really be any good. Sure, statistics help in business planning, but even there they’re quite limited. They’re useful for ordering stuff to have on inventory, for example, but are basically just guestimates.
For whatever reason, who knows why, everybody today loves to spout these statistics so much that if you just make up some bullshit statistic about something, people consider you an expert. And this seems to be where gets their arguments from: relatively meaningless bullshit.
