I get the pun here but in reality you do realize that Canada is just as much part of AMERICA as the United States is. You may have the name “of America” in your title but truthfully Canada of America is just as accurate.
I’m sure ,under some obscure technicality, there is a reason why everyone is claiming that America is generally referring to The Americas. Yet in a informal sense, no one in Canada that is actually from Canada EVER says they’re from America, and when U.S citizens (OR AMERICANS) do refer to America in any way, we all know that we are referring to The United States of America. I’m so tired of hearing people on the internet tell me otherwise. It’s like using who or whom…. it’s a rule so old and obsolete that no one gives a fuck about it anymore! Mexicans aren’t American. Canadians aren’t American. Americans are American! Fuck your technicalities!!! America is a country!
Captain America and Superman kicked Nazi ass in comic books back in the day. They are 100% American (USA). Just like Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Paul Bunyan who came before them. Then Hollywood whored them out the rest of the world…
This is almost as stupid as the people who protested against Arizona Ice Tea a few years back.
Captain America is a notably “American” character. His costume is deliberately modelled after the American flag as well as the political and idealistic war machine which is part of the American culture. Canada does not share this military idealism that military = power. Furthermore, his creator originally named him “Super American”. Everyone in North America refers to people from the United States as Americans because an “American” is someone from the USA. A Canadian is someone from Canada. We are both North American, because THAT is the name of the continent we live on. Both the North and South continents are referred to as “The Americas”, but not one singular “America”. If I went anywhere in the world and said I was Canadian, you would know I was from Canada. If I said I was American, you would know I was from the USA. Never in my life have I heard anyone refer to themselves as American when they are Canadian, or be asked “Oh, are you from Canada or Mexico” when they say they are American. People from the United Kingdom who aren’t English, but are Scottish or Welsh or Irish, would be equally perturbed to be called English simply because they’re from the United Kingdom.
But in response to General Alaric… Superman is not 100% American. He was 50% Canadian, as he was the creation of Joe Shuster (a Canadian artist) and Jerry Siegel (an American writer).
Seriously? This only proves how geographically dense some are…. CANADA is CANADA..NORTHERN America but NOT America..omg..really…. just because it borders the U.S. does NOT make us American..what an absurd thing to argue about… anyone calls ME american and I proudly say I am Canadian..because I do NOT live in the U.S. ..I live in CANADA…wow….some of these posts make my IQ drop
THANK YOU!!!
I’m in the USA, and you said exactly what I was thinking.
Also (Not arguing with you at all, this is in protest of the other posts) Captain America wears red, white and blue, and he is a symbol of the United States no matter which way you look at it. Nerding it up here, he was “made” by the United States Military.
NORTH America is a continent that Canada is part of, sure. But if people are pulling the “American continent” thing, then I guess Mexico, Peru, Brazil etc. are America, too. They’re on a continent with the name “America” in it. Since Canadians get to say “Canadian”, can we PLEASE have “American”? Saying “born in the United States of America” doesn’t roll off the tongue.
Fail not win

this isn’t a fail nor a win, it’s just plain stupid.
Canada is in America. Who’s stupid? Why the United states…of America is no longer first in education.
Believe it or not, Canada Dry is an American company.
That’s because Canada is located on America (continent). Idiots.

In my eyes, it’s a double win. Captain America and Ginger Ale, FTW!
