Well, you’re gonna draw me off into a philosophical argument there: Star Wars’ main idea was that it would be a one time story and come to an end; it did and all we can do now is see how fucked the whole story becomes under Disney.
Star Trek has already had several dumbass incarnations under Rick Berman and, luckily, has survived. But with Abramms cornering the market on Sci-Fi, well…I guess we’ll see…
I’m currently awaiting a major fuckup from Disney and Depp with Kolchak:The Night Stalker…
But, what do I know? I’m sure The Night Stalker will be a hit like Dark Shadows…as I predicted it would be.
Hmmm I haven’t heard of that Night Stalker movie and haven’t seen Dark Shadows….it doesn’t really look anything like the show.
Well, the Dark Shadows tv soap opera was a mess, but it had some cool ideas which have been stolen by current shows and could’ve been served better if it wasn’t made into another parody of itself like all remakes of the sixties and seventies. I mean whatever happened to doing something as well, if not better than the original? Why does Hollywood have to keep on making paradies of old stuff and making it look stupid? Most people would say that’s because it WAS stupid. No! What’s stupid is that nobody can come up with anything better, can redo it any better, so the answer is to play it out like it’s stupid…BUT USE THE SAME FUCKING CONCEPT! WTF?

I agree on the remakes….most of them are ridiculous and they choose things from the originals that don’t add to the remake at all and very often don’t make sense. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a decent remake. Dr Phibes…was that made in the 70′s?
The Abominable Dr. Phibes (which was a bit too much of that psychodelic shit they tried in the Seventies) and then the sequel: Dr. Phibes Rises Again (wich was, IMO, much better); starring My Man Vincent Price. The concept was great, yet the budget was fucked…Yes, in the Seventies.
