SPIDER-MAN ARRESTED IN MINNEAPOLIS AFTER FIGHTING FAR-RIGHT ANTI-MUSLIM ACTIVIST JAKE LANG
By Epic Fail·15 hr ago
This definitely wasn't in the Marvel script. A chaotic confrontation outside Minneapolis City Hall went viral over the weekend after a man dressed head-to-toe as Spider-Man jumped onto a vehicle carrying far-right activist Jake Lang and got into a physical confrontation with him. Yes, Spider-Man was eventually arrested. The wild scene unfolded Saturday, August 22, as Lang and his supporters arrived outside Minneapolis City Hall for a demonstration that was met by more than 100 counter-protesters. According to Minneapolis police, two vehicles associated with Lang's group unexpectedly drove onto the sidewalk next to City Hall and moved slowly through the crowd. Things escalated almost immediately. Police said confrontations broke out around the vehicles and chemical irritants believed to be mace were deployed by people on both sides. Video from the scene also showed bottles and other objects being thrown as officers attempted to control the increasingly chaotic situation. And then Spider-Man entered the story. Footage that quickly spread across social media showed the costumed counter-protester climbing onto the back of Lang's vehicle and confronting him. The encounter turned physical before Spider-Man was pulled away. Authorities have since identified the man in the Spider-Man costume as 33-year-old Nicholas William Love II of Inver Grove Heights. Police said Love was arrested and booked over an alleged assault connected to the confrontation. The surreal footage quickly exploded online, with social media users making the obvious Peter Parker jokes and some supporters portraying the costumed protester as a real-life superhero. Additional news footage: But Spider-Man wasn't the only person leaving the demonstration in police custody. Lang himself was later arrested along with several people associated with his group. Minneapolis police said 11 people were arrested in connection with the day's events, including Lang and six of his supporters on suspicion of riot-related offenses. Four additional arrests were made near City Hall over allegations including disorderly conduct and assault. Police also impounded the two vehicles. Interim Minneapolis Police Chief Bill Peterson said officers initially focused on getting the vehicles and their occupants away from the packed crowd rather than attempting arrests in the middle of the confrontation. Authorities subsequently stopped the vehicles and made arrests. Lang has become a controversial figure nationally following his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot. He spent years in federal custody awaiting trial before receiving a presidential pardon in January 2025 along with other January 6 defendants. More recently, he has organized demonstrations centered on anti-Muslim rhetoric. Saturday wasn't even Lang's first explosive encounter with protesters in Minneapolis this year. In January, Lang attempted to organize another demonstration in the city that included plans for anti-Islam activities. That event also attracted a much larger group of counter-protesters and ended with Lang leaving the area following confrontations. This time, however, Minneapolis got an unexpected new character in the story. A guy dressed as Spider-Man. The image of a Marvel superhero lookalike climbing onto a truck, confronting one of the country's most controversial far-right activists and then getting arrested sounds almost too ridiculous to be real. But in Minneapolis this weekend, that's exactly what happened. And the internet may never look at "your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" the same way again. People are even reacting to it online (watch first 30s)

Jeremy Smith delivered one of the most unexpected finishes of Adin Ross’ Brand Risk boxing event, scoring a first-round TKO over Kodiyakredd, one half of the Island Boys. Despite a significant height and size disadvantage, the 4-foot Smith came forward aggressively from the opening bell and quickly put Kodiyakredd under pressure. Smith scored an early knockdown, and Kodiyakredd was unable to continue, bringing the bout to an abrupt end. On paper, the physical matchup appeared heavily tilted in Kodiyakredd’s favor. Inside the ring, however, Smith dictated the action, closed the distance and secured the stoppage in the opening round. The surprising finish quickly began circulating across social media, becoming one of the most talked-about moments from the event. What did you make of Smith’s performance?
