Georgia couple that terrorized black boy at birthday party got whats coming to them

By Epic Fail·16 days ago

A child’s birthday party in Douglasville turned into a terrifying scene after an African-American family celebrating an 8-year-old’s birthday was allegedly targeted by a group driving pickup trucks through the neighborhood. Witnesses said the group circled the area waving Confederate flags, yelling racial slurs, and making threats while children were outside. Court testimony stated the harassment was deliberate and continued over time. Prosecutors said one man allegedly pointed a shotgun toward the family, escalating fears even further. Authorities said the group, which called itself “Respect the Flag,” had reportedly been traveling through nearby counties targeting Black residents for several days. A judge later ruled the incident amounted to racially motivated intimidation and sentenced the defendants to lengthy prison terms. Joe Torres received 20 years in prison, with 13 to serve, while Kyla Norton was sentenced to 15 years, with six years to serve. Both defendants reportedly cried in court and asked for forgiveness as the sentences were handed down. One victim, Hyesha Bryant, told the pair she forgave them, though the judge still imposed the lengthy sentences.
